Wish
Your lips so red And eyes aglow; Your hair is oh, so fine.
I love your smile Your pleasant way; I wish you could be mine.
Robert Ogden
Well, I guess we can pretty much classify this poem in the lustful category. This is mostly about physical attraction except for one spot. The line that says, “Your pleasant way” seems to inject a note of appreciation for more than just physical attributes.
“Your pleasant way” indicates the importance of personality in the eyes of the author. As adults we realize the vast importance of inner character over outward appearance. And it is good to see here that the teen has an appreciation for inner qualities as we see “Your pleasant way” poking through the clouds of youthful lust.
