Short Poems
Short poems can have powerful messages.
Faith
My faith won’t say “This pilot CAN Control and fly this jet.”
Instead it says, “This pilot WILL…” As on the plane I get.
Robert Ogden
Hebrews 11:1 has the best definition of faith that I know.
This poem was inspired by a church sign I once saw in Lake Wales, Florida, as I was driving by. It said, “Faith is not believing that God can, but that God will.” Immediately, it struck a chord with me.
I am big on Christians walking as opposed to just talking, and this sign echoed my sentiments exactly. Too often, I see professing Christians shrivel in the face of difficulty. No longer are they children of God in practice. Their walk has taken a hike.
Sure, this happens to each of us as we grow in Him over time. But it should not happen over and over again.
As James 1:22 says, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” The next time God leads us to serve Him in a particular way, let’s grab our shoes.
