Poems about Life
Poems about life teach us to face our problems instead of running away from them.
Running Away
I cut my ties; I spread my wings And reached the land of gold.
But then I found New problems there And wished I had the old.
Robert Ogden
Did you ever change jobs because you felt things weren’t run correctly at work, only to find that your new job was filled with tyrant bosses and backstabbing employees?
Or, did you ever sell a house you liked in order to move up in the world and settle in a beautiful new abode where the water bills were higher than your mortgage and the neighborhood night life kept you from getting needed sleep?
I learned early on in my teaching career not to run from problems. They are there for a reason, and they are there for my good. They teach me to endure and do right anyway. I only grow by staying the course.
Eventually, situations will change. A friend of my mine was associated with a faction at work that eventually turned against the administration. When the ring leader was dismissed and most of the faction followed him, my friend stayed, wisely recognizing the ring leader had over stepped his bounds. Though eyed suspiciously at first, my friend’s loyalty was soon recognized, and he was promoted to take the place of the ring leader.
