Motivational Poems
Motivational poems teach us some great advice.
Move On
Regrets have we For wasted time And many deeds undone.
But look ahead! Redeem what’s left; The race can still be won!
Robert Ogden
This has been, perhaps, the most common advice I have given to my adolescent and adult children, my co-workers, and anyone else immersed in a regretful set of circumstances; apologize, make restitution…do whatever you can to make things right...then move on.
When you hurt someone’s feelings…apologize, ask forgiveness, and make restitution, if applicable. Do not feel guilty if, having done these things, the injured party does not accept your apology. They are responsible for their actions. You are only responsible for yours.
I John 1:9 says, " If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Our responsibility rests in our own actions, not in the actions of others.
If you allow your wrongdoings to make you regretful without the opportunity for closure, you will place your future effectiveness and enjoyment of life on reserve battery. The key is to do what’s right, always; and when you mess up, do what’s right to correct things as much as possible…and move on.
