Memorial Day Poem

A memorial day poem commemorates the greatest sacrifice that anyone can make…laying down your life for another.

Remember

Rememb’ring them
Who died that we
Might live in liberty.

Let’s not forget
Their sacrifice
Lest we ungrateful be.

Robert Ogden

The ultimate snub of anyone is to simply ignore them and, by so doing, show that you care nothing about them. If anyone deserves to be remembered, to be appreciated for their deeds, it has to be those who laid down their lives for us. Didn’t they show their care for us? Let’s not forget them.

I look back at my high school days and remember marching down Main Street in Canandaigua, New York to the Woodlawn Cemetery and a ceremony honoring the dead. It was wonderful for us to be taught about our heritage and learn that our freedom isn’t really free.
