Funny Poem

A funny poem about winter always warms the heart.

Winter Wonder

My icy breath
The jeweled snow
That sparkles near and far,

Delight my soul
Until I go
And try to start my car.

Robert Ogden

I grew up in the sixties in upstate New York, and as a kid, I enjoyed playing in the snow. Throwing snowballs, sledding, climbing drifts, skating…all of these filled my winter months with unique memories I’ll always cherish. Free of the responsibilities of adulthood, I found that snow offered the frolicsome mind rich opportunities for play.

My teen years diminished my enjoyment with the advent of snow shoveling. Though I translated this task into a part time job, my free-wheeling, pleasurable connotations associated with snow were doomed.

The final coup came as I got my driver’s license and officially entered the world of independence…and responsibility. The beautiful, sparkling snow lighting up the ground on a clear winter morning now seemed more like a shiny graveyard urging me into my snow covered tomb.

Rurrrr…rurrr…rurrr. Arrrgh...dead battery!
