I love humor. Can you imagine receiving this poem as a plaque gift on your 40th birthday?
I remember my Uncle Bill turning 40 when I was a youth and the commotion it caused among my dad and other relatives. Later, others turned forty and the unwanted attention was always present.
I remember a friend making a banner to hang on the fence in his front yard when his wife turned 40. It used the old cliché:
“Lordy, lordy, Kathy’s forty!”
Was she embarrassed? Sure. That was his goal. Yet, she understood it was his way of showing her he loved her. Now, if I had done that to my wife…
