Free Teacher Retirement Poem
Here’s a free teacher retirement poem about a bunch of nuts.
Acorn
An acorn grew Into a tree And fostered plenteous fruit.
The nuts dispersed And hatched o’er time And grew and followed suit.
Robert Ogden
This poem is dedicated to my favorite teacher, Mr. Bradley Stanton of Canandaigua, New York.
I sat under Mr. Stanton in junior high history class, and he was my chess club advisor there and, later, in high school.
While I never was a stellar student…too immature to work hard in a subject I didn’t care about… I admired Mr. Stanton’s deportment as a teacher who knew what he taught and who had control of his classroom.
He demonstrated openly his care about me just one time that I remember, deciding an altercation in my favor because I was showing loyalty to his class rules, but I have always been a sucker to befriend people that show they care.
He offered me the fertile ground of safety, security, and inspiration I needed to flex my wings and soar to great heights as our chess club dominated county competition year after year.
I marvel at the impact he had on my life, and though I have not seen him for many years, I am a testament to his life as I continue to teach and strive to bear fruit as he did.
