Christmas Poem
Here’s a Christmas poem with a reminder about the real meaning of Christmas.
Christmas Party
My birthday came T’was party time, Yet no one seemed to care.
Instead, they gave Each other gifts; I wasn’t even there.
Robert Ogden
It is strange that the word Christmas plainly contains the word “Christ,” commemorating His birth in human form on the earth, yet so many celebrate, not by giving Him gifts, but by giving gifts to each other.
Think about it. Isn’t that the way most of us were reared?
If we went to a friend’s birthday party, we would be expected to bring our friend a present. Yet, somehow, we have no qualms about switching places with Christ and giving ourselves gifts on His birthday.
While I, too, am guilty, I make the effort to rectify this injustice a little by offering Him a gift...perhaps of time or service or money...to acknowledge the truth of his birth.
I hope this page will inspire others to ponder keeping the true meaning of the season by deed as well as by thought.
