Baby Poem

A baby poem that marks the end of our childish ways and the beginning of a new perspective and a new set of interests and values.

Turn the Page

With this new child
I feel a change;
It’s something about my age.

I need to leave
My youth behind;
It’s time to turn the page.

Robert Ogden

I have seen more young people, regardless of their wildness, suddenly mature upon having a baby than for any other reason. Having a child jerks our attention off of ourselves and onto the needs of this new life and transforms us into budding young adults.

Instead of spending money freely on entertainment, young folks start thinking about the baby’s needs both now and in the future. This puts a cap on spending freely and promotes responsible budgeting and saving, both characteristics not normally associated with childhood.

Having a child is a definitive step toward putting childhood behind and becoming a responsible adult.
